Jang Keun Suk Craze!

OMG! That's all I can say about this new craze that I've just discovered about 3 weeks ago. I'm not a big fan of K-Drama (Korean) or K-Pop whatsoever. The only Korean actor that I like is Lee Byung Hun when I first saw his drama called Beautiful Days. The next drama that I like is All in and Iris, also acted by Lee Byung Hun. I do watch Winter Sonata (it's impossible to say that I don't watch that drama because Winter Sonata is such a hit nationwide but I'm not that crazy with the story).  As for other K-Drama, I watched it on and off and I don't quite follow the story until last 3 weeks. I was scrolling the channels in the TV on Saturday around 6.40pm when a handsome actor caught my eyes. His character is not the elegant type, his kinda cold and rarely smile the first time I saw the drama but I couldn't tolerate with the series because it's being translated to Mandarin Language. I quickly googled about the actor and the drama was called Marry me, Mary!. It is also known as Mary Stayed Out All Night, and the actor is Jang Keun Suk.

I read about him in Wikipedia and I saw that he is younger than me by 5 years, he's 24 this year. WHen I tried to look for his drama and movie online, I just couldn't accept his acting when he was younger than 22 years old because he looks so childish. I decided to give You're Beautiful a try, and I was not disappointed by the drama. Surprisingly, even my hubby accompanied me watching the drama right from the first episode right til the end for 4 nights! Wow! After finishing You're Beautiful, we watched Itaewon Murder Case. Then, we watched Marry me, Mary and I just finished watching it about 4 days ago. Right now, I don't have any other movie or drama from Jang Keun Suk to watch because the drama and movie was acted by him when he was younger.
Jang Keun Suk had just released a single this year, a Japanese song called Let Me Cry and it's great! I've even made it as my phone ringtone. I'm waiting for his new movie called You're My Pet that was expected to be release end of this year.

Crispy Popia Seaweed

 I was so excited when I first got this recipe from my sister's ex-boyfriends cousin who is also the girlfrined of my friend's brother. I bought this popia seaweed that was made by her mom at Pesta Tanjong and I asked the recipe from her. I bought the roasted Yaki Nori (seaweed) from E-mart supermarket and the yako nori had been seasoned so I decided not to season the popia seaweed after I finished frying it.

Kulit popia/ spring roll 
1 egg - beaten
Yaki Tori (seaweed, any brand that you want)
Perencah nasi goreng cina Seri Aji 
Oil for frying

Yaki Nori

1. Heat oil in wok. You need to reach the right temperature in order to minimize the oil absorption. If you have a kitchen thermometer (I don't have any but decided to look for one), it's best to reach 350 degrees fahrenheit so that the popia seaweed won't turn up to be too oily.

Finished assembling

1. Lay down a piece of kulit popia then brush it with egg using a pastry brush.
2. Line up the sea weed or Yaki Nori, depending how you want it to be. In my case, I just pur the whole seaweed on top of the kulit popia. Then, brush it with egg.
3. Cover it with another piece of kulit popia.
4. Cut it in any shape you want.
5. Fry it in batches, depending on how big is your wok. Don't over crowd the wok or your popia won't get crispy! And this is also a reason why the popia becomes too oily. Patience is very much needed here. Drain the oil on the popia using a high quality kitchen paper/tissue or a wire rack.

6. After finished, put the popia seaweed inside a container and pour the content of perencah nasi goreng cina Seri Aji, TO TASTE. Don't over pour or it will turn out to be too salty. Close the container and give it a nice shake.
7. Enjoy!

Tips to avoid oily popia seaweed:


1. Always make sure the oil are hot enough or if you have a kitchen thermometer, it must reach 350 degrees fahrenheit.
2. Every time you finished taking out the batches of popia, you have to wait for a while before putting in the next batch because the temperature of the oil had lower down after each frying. 
3. The best thing to use to drain the oil is wire rack. If not, you can also use high quality kitchen paper/tissue.

I happened to watch the video clip this afternoon while scrolling the channels on Astro and I was fascinated by Ne Yo's choreography in the video and the way he sings this song because it resembled the late Michael Jackson! The melody is so catchy that you feel like you want to stand and dance through the song.

Dayana's Group Performance

This was her first performance with her group with the song entitled Wa Wa Zhi Ge.

Dayana solo performance They Don't Care About Us

Today is Dayana's kindergarten Graduation Day at Tadika Pujut Miri. She performed Michael Jackson's They Don't Care About Us for solo performance and she was the only one who had done solo. I choreographed her the moves based on Travis Payne's version for CPDRC Inmates. I'm so proud of her because she doesn't have no stage fright at all! You go girl!

This song was taken from the korean series BEAUTIFUL DAYS (Lee Byung Hun, Choi Ji Woo). It is so touching.... I remember those days when my bestfriend, Anchu Tan and I run after finishing our class in UTMKL just to watch this series. How I miss those days back then.
